“Locum Testimonials”

I graduated from Charles Sturt University (Thurgoona, NSW) with a Bachelor of Podiatry Medicine degree in 2021. My partner and I moved to Adelaide early 2022 and I worked for a little over two years in private practice. I really enjoyed this and learnt so much during my time in this job, however I felt that I was beginning to lose my passion for podiatry and felt really burnt out within all aspects of my life, not just my work.

In February 2024 I left private practice and through speaking with family friends, I got in touch with Mav. At this time I knew very little about podiatry locum work, but I was really keen to give something new a go, and I am so glad I did!

Right from the beginning my experience with Mav and Podiatry Services SA was smooth. Mav was quickly able to line work up for me, with an easy and fair contractual system. I had the opportunity to work in private practice, in aged care (through both internally and externally managed aged care companies), and in the community including hospital, rehabilitation centres, and allied health centres. Although there was a constant supply of work, Mav was so considerate in selecting work for me that I thoroughly enjoyed. By my own choosing, I worked 3-4 days per week, however there was definitely the opportunity to work 5 days per week and Mav was very respectful in regard to how often I wanted to work. The contracts are set up very clearly, so I could see what the job entailed including any specific handover information, when and where I would be working. Mav was also very quick to amend any dates if I was disorganised and sprung holiday dates on her – no issue seemed too big for Mav to sort out.

I loved the flexibility within undertaking locum work, as I was able to gain a much better work-life balance than I had previously experienced. I had some longer-term contracts and then there were “once off” contracts to cover for another podiatrist who may not have been able to work at late notice. This allowed their clinics to remain open without having to reschedule a whole day’s worth of clients.

Unfortunately it came time for us to move back home to Victoria in late 2024, therefore my time working for PSSA came to an end. We were very close to extending our time in Adelaide due to me enjoying my work so much.  I am now happily employed in private practice and have the opportunity through my workplace to attend aged care facilities and also provide home visits. If it weren’t for Mav and Podiatry Services SA I definitely wouldn’t still be a podiatrist now, and I wouldn’t have realised that there are so many avenues in podiatry worth exploring. If I could go back in time I would’ve loved to start work with PSSA sooner. I would recommend locum podiatry (especially through PSSA) to any podiatrist who’s feeling unfulfilled in their current role, is seeking a better work-life balance, and wants the ability to work for someone caring, organised and professional – this really was the perfect job which I had nothing but a great experience with.

 Amy McIntosh – Podiatrist

I had the pleasure of working as a locum with Podiatry Services SA, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience. The variety of clinical settings I had the opportunity to work in was incredibly rewarding. From Anglicare to various private practices and home visits, each setting offered a unique challenge and the chance to expand my skills.

The process of getting started was smooth and straightforward. Register an ABN (Australian Business Number)to be able to issue invoices and receive payments. The team at Podiatry Services SA provided clear guidance during this process, making it easy to transition into the role.

What I appreciated most about this experience was the flexibility of the work schedule. It allowed me to balance both personal and professional commitments while gaining exposure to different clinics and aspects of podiatry.

For any new or experienced podiatrists looking for variety in their work, I would highly recommend Podiatry Services SA. Whether you’re looking to broaden your experience or simply enjoy the freedom of flexible working arrangements, this is a great option to consider. The team is supportive, and the diverse work environments make it an ideal place to grow in the field.

Nic Sopru – Podiatrist

I’m a Podiatrist with a special interest in Public Health, High-Risk Foot Care and Indigenous Health. I have previously provided locum services for multiple providers and worked with Podiatry Services SA for 3 months. My locum role organised through the team was a public health position based in the Yorke Peninsula one day per week.

The process of onboarding and induction was seamless, Mav and the team made sure that I was ready to go day one. The team surpassed my expectations with how flexible and accommodating they were with my availability. Communication was always great, addressing any questions or concerns I had promptly.

I’d encourage Podiatrists looking for locum work to reach out to Podiatry Services SA.

William K – Podiatrist

My name is Eliza and I’m currently a locum with Podiatry Services SA. I have 4 years of experience in high risk podiatry and I travelled to the UK to pursue a working holiday in 2024.

I recently returned to Adelaide a couple months earlier than when I was able to return to my permanent high risk contract and was trying to find employment for this short term period. I contacted Mav at Podiatry Services SA who was very prompt to reply and able to answer any questions I had in regards to being a locum.

Mav provided seamless and very helpful assistance in helping me find locum work across various private practices in Adelaide. As I usually specialise in high risk podiatry, locuming was a good opportunity for me to expand my knowledge in general care and biomechanics. My work schedule is anywhere from 2-5 days a week, allowing me flexibility in how many days I would like to work depending on what’s available.

The Podiatry Services SA locum stream took the worry out of having to directly negotiate with the businesses which allowed me to solely focus on the clinical practice. At the end of the day, I sent my timesheet to Mav who then acted as the middle man in obtaining payment from the business for me. If you are interested in becoming a locum I would definitely recommend contacting Mav at Podiatry Services SA.

Eliza Grant – Podiatrist

I am a South-Australia based Podiatrist, who has worked across a wide variety of Allied Health care settings, and have been locuming on and off, in between various permanent roles,  over the past 10 years with PSSA.

Locum work can be very rewarding professionally, exposing you to a wider variety of health care settings, meeting new people, and broadening your skill set. Personally, it affords excellent flexibility around you and your lifestyle. Financially, locum rates are very attractive.

The PSSA team is friendly and supportive, negotiates excellent rates and takes care of all logistics. I would recommend PSSA to anyone considering locum work.

Ali – Podiatrist

I have been working with Podiatry Services SA as a locum since 2021. When I first started working as a podiatrist, they provided me with regular work which was invaluable in helping me gain experience across different clinical settings as a new graduate. This exposure not only strengthened my clinical skills but also allowed me to meet new people and form lasting friendships. In fact, during one of my locum placements, I was even offered a permanent role, which speaks to the fantastic opportunities available through Podiatry Services SA.

Although my career has since taken me to Perth, I frequently return to Adelaide to visit family, sometimes for extended periods. Podiatry Services SA has been incredibly accommodating, offering locum opportunities whenever I am back, allowing me to continue working while spending time with my family.

I highly recommend Podiatry Services SA to any podiatrist looking for flexible and rewarding locum opportunities. They have been extremely supportive, and MAV, in particular has been wonderful to work with.

Zahra Ghasemi – Podiatrist

I graduated from the University of South Australia in 2017 with a Bachelor of Podiatry. Since then I have worked in private and public practice in metro and rural locations. I have a special interest in foot pain, sports injuries, ingrown toe nails and orthotic therapy.

I have been a locum since 2018. Podiatry Services SA has access to a variety of locum work including public practice, private practice and aged care, which provides clinical diversity. The flexibility of being a locum is fantastic, being able to work 5 days/week one week, and then 3 days/week the next provides great work-life balance.

Podiatry Services SA streamlines obtaining and managing locum jobs, as they handle the paperwork and logistics. This means I have less out of hours work to do, and can increase my clinical time as a locum. Mav is well connected within the podiatry industry, making it easy to network and form new business relationships.

Ben Clewer – Podiatrist

I’ve been working as a locum podiatrist for the past 18 months, taking on a mix of roles across aged care, public health and home visits. I’ve had the chance to work with all sorts of patients, from routine foot care to biomechanical assessments and more complex high-risk cases, especially in rural areas.

One of the biggest attractions of locum work is the flexibility, it’s given me the freedom to take on short or long term contracts, depending on what suits me at the time. I have enjoyed stepping into different clinical settings, meeting new teams, and adapting to different setups, all while knowing I’m providing essential clinical services to those that need it.

Podiatry Services SA has made the whole process super easy. They’re professional, very well-organised, always supportive, and make sure every contract is a great fit for my skills and availability. They handle all the logistics and keep the communication effective and clear, so I never feel isolated.

If you’re a podiatrist looking for locum work in South Australia, I highly recommend Podiatry Services SA. Whether you want more flexibility, variety, or just a change of pace, they provide an outstanding podiatry service that makes locum work easy to manage.

Paddy Macklin – Podiatrist

I’ve been working with Podiatry services SA for a little over a year now and it’s been fantastic experience. The variety of locations and healthcare settings I’ve worked has broadened my skills and allowed me to adapt to diverse patient needs. Mav has been absolutely amazing accommodating all locum requests and providing flexibility in our schedules. Locum work with Pod services SA lets you maintain a healthy work life balance while staying dedicated to provide excellent podiatry care.
